The Geek Gets Tough!
Being a geek can be pretty hard at the best of times, I can tell you! But why the blazes should it be??? Just because you happen to have an interest in techy stuff, you should not be made to feel like some kind of ‘tedium leper’! However, I’m afraid that’s exactly what it is like a lot of the time. Just try putting yourself in my shoes; wondering whether or not you are boring the pants off everyone you are talking to!
Now, I’m not trying to make you feel sorry for me here (even if this post does sound as though it’s brimming over with self-pity)… But the thing is, I’m getting really tired of people thinking I’m a bore. It isn’t fair and I’ve decided that I’m simply not prepared to put up with it any longer! I like my computer, I like my gadgets and there’s no reason why I should feel bad about it!!!
So, what am I actually going to do about all of this? What course of action am I actually planning to take? Well, that’s simple; I’m going to carry on just the same way as I always have… except I shall make a point of looking bored with other people! Yes, the next time someone starts harping on about football, fast cars or supermodels, I will make it quite clear that I’d rather be standing at home watching my kettle coming up to the boil.
Ha! They’ll certainly be ‘No more Mr Nice Guy' from now onwards; no sir. This geek’s gone baaaaaad!!! So just you remember that, all of you ‘let’s-have-a-laugh-at-the-nerd' people. And the next time you want a gadget fixing or your OS is running mysteriously slow, I absolutely refuse to help you out! Even if you come begging me with a smile as wide as an exhibition stand, the answer will still be a resounding, ‘NO!!!’.
And that’s because this techno worm has turned!
