Girl gamers - real or not?

However much the feminist in me wants to resist it, it can’t be done; boys are simply better at computer games than girls. No doubt if girls are interested, they can be just as good and better as boys at WoW, Minecraft and FIFA, but the majority of them (and I’m speaking from experience, not from statistics) just aren’t. The fact that I’m speaking from experience is quite revealing; I have a lot of friends who are girls and few of them are the stereotypical ‘girly-girls’ that you see lining up outside clubs on any day of the week complaining about the fact that they’re cold (not wearing a coat, obviously – the cloak room isn’t worth the money).
That isn’t to say that girls can’t play computer games. I have been known to smash pots in Hyrule and slay monsters just outside Balmora. But still, the lads in my life are more skilled and generally more enthusiastic about sacrificing hours of their lives to the glowing box in the corner. A lot of “girl gamers” aren’t even proper girl gamers. A famous demotivational involves a so-called girl gamer using the arrow keys as opposed to WASD, which is the accepted norm in controlling characters in computer games with a keyboard.
I am determined to become a better girl gamer and will buy the next Elder Scrolls game when it comes out on the eleventh of November this year. I am hoping that somebody gives it to me as some sort of wedding favour.
