The design of the Chumby One may discourage some people from taking it seriously: it certainly does appear to be a kid’s toy. The small, round, almost squeezable shape makes the user feel like they just bought a gadget made by Mattel. But this can also be a benefit! The processor is nothing to sneeze at either, with 454MHz of RAM. The Chumby One also includes an FM radio, 2GB of microSD memory, and a USB port. The battery also makes for a lot of use which is a treat compared to Chumby’s predecessors.
The Chumby One is great for anywhere, whether in your home or on the street, going to bed or when you are out on a hunt for Brixton flats and houses for rent. With a built in alarm clock, it can even fit nicely on your bedside table. By putting the Chumby One in night mode, the LCD is dimmed and the time is displayed across the screen. There are also two alarm features: one standard and the other customisable. Here you can choose between a regular alarm tone or designate your own choice of music.
The Chumby One is not just an alarm clock and an internet reader (although it is quite successful at both) but it also functions as an excellent internet radio device. With the ability to plug into larger speakers, the Chumby One is an excellent source for online music, whether you choose Pandora or Grooveshark.
