Geeks love data and manipulating it in variously creative ways. Indeed due to geeks often being rather more talented than the ley man or woman they tend to do amazing things with data.
There is an awful lot of snobbery involved with the modern music scene, especially if you are a geek… You see, just because I work with tech and computers, many folk will think that I only listen to a certain kind of bands (i.e. Devo, Weezer or Talking Heads).
WRONG!!!!
Personally I happen to have a big love for New Orleans Jazz and Mississippi Blues– so put that in your pipe and smoke it all of you narrow minded and judgemental people!!
Just because I’m a geek, a lot of people think that I must spend all of my time sitting in front of a computer – even my spare time. However, this is not entirely true… Of course I do some things on my PC when I am not at work, but I also have several other interests. So if I am not busy reading about exciting new data integration projects or catching up on the latest test results from the Hadron Collider, I can usually be found doing something from the following list -

prototyping is an important step in the entire software development life-cycle. Being a geek can be pretty hard at the best of times, I can tell you! But why the blazes should it be??? Just because you happen to have an interest in techy stuff, you should not be made to feel like some kind of ‘tedium leper’! However, I’m afraid that’s exactly what it is like a lot of the time. Just try putting yourself in my shoes; wondering whether or not you are boring the pants off everyone you are talking to!
These days you’d see almost everyone sporting some trendy and compact computing devices in form of tablets, smartphones and handheld PCs. Until few years ago, it was just a dream to stay connected with the world without using the wired Internet. However, with constant evolutions in the infrastructure, hardware, and software technology, you can carry your own little computers in your pockets and use them for the purposes even bulky computers couldn’t do until nearly a decade ago.
After much hype and publicity, the Skype for iPad has been finally released giving users of this popular gadget another great way to connect with other people to any place on earth. A free download is now officially available after it was prematurely launched and withdrawn from ITunes Stores only hours after its initial release. Although the iPad is already bundled with Fring, (another excellent teleconference application) and Apple’s Facetime, Skype presented an extra bonus for consumers.
Skype is already available to iPhone users since January 2010. The application offers a remarkable addition to communication tools giving users of iPad2 an option to use both cameras owing to its large screen. They can make use of the landscape and portrait mode allowing users to change views when using video calls with other contacts.
The application’s interface on the iPad shows a grid display for user’s contacts. Sufficient space is included to place a large avatar of their contacts for easier navigation. Short message texting is allowable using the dial pad as well as instant messaging while on a call. So users can now keep in great touch wih each other and talk about all sorts of thing from sports to Hotels in Looe.
Skype offers more flexibility due to its compatibility with different operating systems like Mac OS and Windows. It is also a standard application on Android mobile phone, iPhone, the Internet- ready TVs or even on the PSP. Another feature is the capability to place calls to landlines to any part of the world with a specific airtime charge.
At present, Skype is being purchased by Microsoft and is already available on Facebook as an additional application plug-in used for video calling friends and contacts.

Electronics: As geeks usually have the electronics they want you might want to buy them some accessories.
Gadgets: Geeks are easily entertained by gadgets whether they are a Swiss army knife that contains an USB or night vision goggles.
Toys: Toys will often be similar to the ones geeks had as children but they will be geared towards adults. They could be an action figure of their favorite scientist, a mini-model of the Pyramids of Egypt or some gaming dice.
Jewelry: These can be fun gifts like puzzle rings, or an LED belt buckle. You have to think out of the box with these gifts.
Caffeine: Geeks usually are in love with caffeine. Be creative with this as well; you can buy caffeinated lip balm, a hand-held espresso machine or caffeinated soap.
Buying for a geek doesn’t have to be a challenge but it can be a lot of fun.

Lexmark has come up with a new innovation, the Genesis S816 All in One Inkjet Printer. A very good feature of the printer is that the company has removed the mechanical scanner arm from the printer and has replaced it with an electronic device which functions like a digital camera. This new technology is known as the Flash Scan, because you can instantly scan a full page with it. The printer has also been reoriented to a more vertical position and so if you have less desk space, there will be no problem on this count.
Scanning is done super fast by the Lexmark Genesis and thus it is a real time saver. One bad thing about the scanner is that it lacks a document feeder, which means you will have to scan one page at a time. The other useful features include a leading-edge 4.3-inch touch panel which is bright, colorful, and easy to use. The company provides a three-year exchange-service warranty with a lifetime phone support. However, the biggest obstacle which the printer will face is the high cost of the ink. The printer itself is tall, sleek, with an angled appearance, so much so that it resembles a computer monitor rather than a traditional printer. It would be a good idea to get oneself trained on how to use the printer as everything in it is technologically more advanced than an ordinary printer.
The weight of the printer is average (19.2 pounds) but it is easy to move, as its mass is concentrated vertically. It has a sturdy plastic body with the scanner lid and front door making a solid thump sound when you close them. The scanner lid occupies more than half of the front surface, with an LCD touch screen positioned at its center. The front door provides access to the ink cartridges and there is a second inner door which you can open for freeing paper jams.
There is a single memory card slot on the side that can be accessed by any flash card formats, except the old Compact Flash Cards. It has also an USB port that can work with either USB flash drives or with a PictBridge camera connection.
